90 Trees for 90 Years WCA

Ban Lanta y Planta is proud to be a key partner in the “90 Trees for 90 Years” initiative, a powerful reforestation campaign led by the Women’s Club of Aruba (WCA) in celebration of their 90th anniversary. This island-wide project is a living tribute to both Aruba’s natural heritage and the WCA’s long-standing service to the community.

Launched in 2024, the initiative aims to plant 90 native trees across Aruba, focusing on public, educational, and community spaces to ensure lasting environmental and social impact. Each tree planted contributes to restoring biodiversity, supporting local ecosystems, and fostering awareness of Aruba’s unique and fragile natural landscape.

Planting Across Aruba’s Key Community Spaces

Through this collaboration, trees have been planted at locations of deep significance to the community—including the National Library of Aruba, YMCA San Nicolas, and YMCA Dakota. These sites not only provide valuable public space, but also serve as learning environments where youth, families, and volunteers are encouraged to reconnect with nature and take part in environmental stewardship.

The selection of native species ensures that the trees are well-adapted to Aruba’s climate and soil, and that they support local wildlife and pollinators. From shaded reading gardens to green playgrounds and gathering spaces, each planting location becomes a node in a growing network of urban rewilding.

A Partnership Model for Sustainability

This initiative exemplifies the strength of community-driven conservation. The project is made possible through the combined efforts of:

  • Women’s Club of Aruba (WCA) – project leaders and organizers
  • Ban Lanta y Planta – environmental coordination and planting guidance
  • O’Campos Landscaping & More – technical and on-site support
  • YMCA Aruba – host and caretaker of green community hubs
  • National Library of Aruba – educational partner and symbolic anchor of the campaign
  • Aruba Conservation Foundation – supporting reforestation and preservation efforts

Each partner plays a vital role, contributing resources, knowledge, and volunteers toward the common goal of a greener, more resilient Aruba.

Growing Impact, Shared Responsibility

“90 Trees for 90 Years” is not just about celebrating the past—it’s about planting seeds for Aruba’s future. With trees now established in multiple locations and more sites in preparation, the initiative is steadily transforming public areas into greener, more livable spaces for all.

As Ban Lanta y Planta, we believe this project is a shining example of how cross-sector collaboration can lead to real, tangible environmental progress. It also highlights the importance of long-term care, community involvement, and local pride in the places we share.
